    Unexpected Downtime
I feel I should inform you about goings-on behind the scenes on the network here.

We have an ISA Server, and a web server for the site, and I have recently upgraded the ISA Server, as I mentioned in the forums.

I came across a little issue on the ISA server whereby the Internal NIC crashed when I was installing the firewall. I had to completely cut the power to the box to reboot the NIC. I thought nothing of it after that.

Well, today it happened again. So that's the reason for the downtime earlier today, I think the site was offline for a total of about 3 hours. It's all better now though, just a few Windows Updates to trawl through!

    Email issues
Had a few problems with the Exchange server today. Well, it's a good job I run a Microsoft Exchange resource site isn't it, or I might be a bit stuck!

Basically, I was looking through the event logs and noticed one about OALGen not finding any recipients to update the list with. So effectively we had no Offline Address List. This isn't such a big deal, but I can't stand these little niggling problems, so I had to fix it.

Turns out the fix was to reset the system folders as per KB 822444. Looks like all is well now, and I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem!

    Site Updates
OK, so we have some nice new content, lots of shiney articles! All the code has been updated and made nice and secure, and the forums have had a makeover.

Thanks to James Chong for the support & link from his blog msexchangetips.blogspot.com! Have a good week everyone, I know I'll be having loads of fun doing exams :(.

    DST Madness

As you may well know, DST is changing in the USA. All I can say about that is - I'm glad it's not happening here!

Every support site I know of, that has anything to do with computing, and some that don't - are jammed with requests from desperate Exchange admins, trying to find a way to fix the mess that this is causing. Microsoft has released a patch for the DST change, which has so far gone through approximately 25 revisions (yes, 25!). It seems to be causing more problems than it solves, however. It looks like users are finding appointments shifted forwards by a matter of hours, and turning up late to meetings. Of course the Exchange admin gets blamed - but what can you do? Blame Microsoft!

Of course, this may cause even more heartache if the senators decide it wasn't a good idea afterall, and roll back on it later in the year. Boy, wouldn't that be fun!

    Have a good weekend...

    Progress, Progess!
The article system is completely finished now. This is good! The rating system has been finished, and a few bugs ironed out. To mention but two: GoogleBot was rating every article (a simple robots.txt edit fixed this), and anyone could vote an infinite number of time for a particular article. This is also now fixed, so all is well! I guess the next step is to get the video tutorials up and running. Maybe I should make the blogs section look nicer. Hell, maybe I should give the blog users a way to update their blogs! It's gotta be videos, hands down. Check back soon for updates!

    2nd Article Done and Dusted
I love the feeling having finished something. I've just finished the second article in my series of Exchange Server articles. In fact, it's the second article this site has ever had! Click Here to view part one of the series (Backup Exchange 2003 With NTBackup).
